How does the NFC verification work?
Every genuine ROF rod has a small NFC tag. Hold the top of your phone near the tag (on iPhone, NFC reading works from the lock screen or Control Center; on Android, NFC must be switched on). Your phone opens a ROF Worldwide page that checks the tag against the ROF database and shows whether the rod is genuine, its certificate and its warranty.
No app is needed. If your phone cannot read NFC, use the manual check with the serial number or certificate number. Manual verification
How do I register my rod?
Create a ROF account and confirm your e-mail address. Then tap your rod (or open "Register a rod" in your account) and enter the serial number and the claim code printed on the warranty card that came with the rod. Keep the warranty card safe: the claim code proves that you hold the rod.
Once registered, the rod shows "Registered" to anyone who verifies it, and it appears in your account.
Strike rules
- A strike must be caught with a ROF rod registered to you.
- Add at least one clear photo of the fish (and the rod where possible). Weight and length must be honest.
- The catch date must be recent; very old catches are not accepted.
- Your exact spot stays private. Public pages show only the country and region.
- Every strike is reviewed by ROF before it appears on leaderboards. ROF may reject strikes that do not meet the rules.
Achievements
Approved strikes can earn achievements (badges), and competition results are published when a competition is finalized. Your achievements are listed in your account.
Selling or giving away a rod
Start a transfer from the rod page in your account and enter the new owner's e-mail address. They accept the transfer with their own ROF account, and ROF may review it. The ownership history is kept.
The page says "Not recognised" or "Possible copied tag"
Do not buy or use the rod until you have spoken to ROF. It may be counterfeit, or the tag may be damaged or replaced.
